On August 23, in the Donetsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after A. B. Solovyanenko, a solemn event dedicated to Miner’s Day was held. The event was attended by DPR Head Denis Pushilin, Chairman of the People’s Council Vladimir Bidyovka, deputies of the People’s Council, representatives of relevant ministries, departments, coal mining workers.

The Head of the Republic congratulated the miners on their holiday and focused on the dignity and importance of their work.

“Friends, I am pleased to welcome you today at a festive event in honour of Miner’s Day! For our area, for our region this is not just a holiday, it is much more than that. It’s not up me who to tell you how important the mining industry is to Donbass. This is the engine of our entire economy. Of course, we all understand and realize that now is a very difficult time for the coal industry. War, blockade, non-recognition… There are a lot of problems that we have to deal with together.

But now I can safely say that we are developing thanks to your selfless work, due to the fact that sometimes we had to survive in spite of. But we are looking to the future with optimism – we have something to strive for, we have something to look up to.

The miners of Donbass are a special caste, courageous and decent people who honour the glorious mining traditions. That’s how it was and will continue to be so.

I’d like to wish you peaceful skies above your head, prosperity and, of course, mining luck! Happy holiday! Happy Miner’s Day!” Denis Pushilin said.

The Chairman of the People’s Council joined the congratulations.

“I sincerely congratulate you on your professional holiday – Miner’s Day! For the Donetsk People’s Republic, this is a special holiday, since the coal mining industry is one of the main ones for our state. The Republic respects the glorious traditions of the Donbass miners, which are known far beyond the borders of our region.

The history of Donbass shows that our people are able to overcome any difficulties that fate has prepared for us. And even now, in the context of ongoing shelling by Ukraine, the economic and transport blockade, the Donetsk People’s Republic overcomes difficulties step by step and gradually continues to develop in all directions. A huge contribution to the formation of our state is made by coal workers.

I’m sure that in the future, thanks to the chosen course towards integration with the Russian Federation and cooperation between the Ministry of Coal and Energy and the DPR People’s Council, we will be able to achieve ambitious goals and solve the most difficult tasks,” Vladimir Bidyovka said.
