#Commentary of Vladislav Rusanov on withdrawal of Viktor Medvedchuk from negotiation process in Minsk
For the first time in five years, many people hoped after the presidential elections that the Ukrainian power got a real chance to change a situation for the better – to stop the war, address domestic issues and to build peace.
However, we, unfortunately, are watching the Kiev authority’s return to aggressive rhetoric. Perhaps, this is connected with the withdrawal of Victor Medvedchuk from the negotiation process in Minsk. The change of power has not led to a change in mentality in Ukrainian politics. And therefore, the hopes of the citizens of the Donetsk People’s Republic for the cessation of hostilities will not be fulfilled in the near future.
The movement vector of the Republic of Donbass aimed at returning to Russia remains unchanged. A ceasefire on the line of contact would preserve the lives and health of many people on both sides of the confrontation. Ukraine, for its part, should return to the Minsk process, and we will insist on it, because we see no other option to settle the conflict peacefully.
