Denis Pushilin: Ukraine rejects any People’s Republics’ initiative to settle conflict in Donbass (video)

Chairman of the People’s Council of the DPR, permanent representative of the DPR to the talks of the Contact group in Minsk, Denis Pushilin, in the TV program “Sunday Evening with Vladimir Soloviyov” commented on Vladimir Putin’s initiative to send UN peacekeeping contingent to the Donbass.

“Definitely, now there is a civil war in the Donbass, and the Ukrainian government continues to destroy us. And the people of Donbass associate the Ukrainian national anthem, flag and representatives of power with the blood of children, old people, women, whom Ukraine was killing. When initiatives related to peacekeepers, negotiations in Minsk or the special status of the Donbass are pushed from our party, we understand that Ukraine will never consent to this,” Denis Pushilin said.

According to the envoy, the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation deprives Ukraine and its Western partners of a possibility to accuse Russia of intentions to conduct military operations on the Donbass territory.

“Vladimir Putin, coming forward with the initiative to introduce a peacekeeping contingent in the Donbass, understood: neither Ukraine nor the West will go for it. You can imagine the opposite situation, because Poroshenko has been cherishing the idea of peacekeepers for a long time. And if this resolution was submitted by the United States or Ukraine, then, remembering the experience of Yugoslavia perfectly and realizing that they can’t abandon four million people, Russia would have to impose its veto. At the same time, a picture would be formed: Russia is against the peacekeepers, which means that it is for the war. And now neither the West nor Ukraine has such an opportunity. Now, on the contrary, Kurt Volker is for the war, because he opposes the peacekeepers,” Denis Pushilin stressed.
