On June 2, a meeting-requiem to commemorate those, who died as a result of an airstrike by the Paramilitary Forces of Ukraine on June 2, 2014, was held in a public park named after the heroes of the Great Patriotic War in Lugansk. The meeting was attended by the Head of the LPR Leonid Pasechnik, DPR’s delegation, which was headed by the Chairman of the DPR’s People’s Council Vladimir Bidyovka, Chairman of the LPR’s People’s Council Denis Miroshnichenko, deputies of the DPR and LPR’s parliaments.
Addressing the meeting, the Head of the LPR Leonid Pasechnik noted that the people of Donbass would never forget the crime that Ukraine committed on June 2, 2014.
ʺThere are residential apartment buildings around the administration building and public park of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, there is a kindergarten behind the administration building and the public park has a children’s playground, where children played that day.
This act of inhumane aggression was the first one in a series of bloody crimes of Kiev against the peaceful inhabitants of Donbass,ʺ Leonid Pasechnik underlined.
The Chairman of the DPR’s People’s Council expressed condolences to the families of the victims, who perished as a result of the tragedy in 2014, in an interview to the press.
ʺToday, the delegation of the Donetsk People’s Republic took part in the event, which was dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the airstrike on Lugansk, peaceful city.
We all remember those photos in news stories and this tragedy is familiar to us: we have always been friendly and the war has brought us closer together.
We express our sincere condolences to the people of the Lugansk People’s Republic.
I would like to say that our Republic will always be together and will confront any scourge together as well,ʺ Vladimir Bidyovka said.
In turn, the Speaker of the LPR’s Parliament Denis Miroshnichenko recalled the importance of careful attitude towards the current history of Donbass.
ʺCollective sorrow united our society. If earlier we could not even theoretically imagine that there would be a war in our city, this day was a point of no return. This is a tragic date in our history and this should not happen again in the modern world. We must remember and pass on to other generations the understanding of the price we paid to preserve truth,ʺ Denis Miroshnichenko said.
